Ohio State Central Committee

Every two years, Ohio voters see lists of party central committee candidates on their primary ballots. Voters can always choose not to vote on positions or issues on their ballot. However, it is important for Republican voters, to vote for their choice of State Central Candidates, who will be managing the affairs of the Ohio Republican Party over the next 2 years.

Republican State Central Committee consists of two members, one man and one woman, elected from each senatorial district in the state (District 31). All members of the Committee must be members of the Republican Party, and elected by direct vote in each primary election held in an even-numbered year.

The elected state central committee members decide party policy development, fundraising, and other campaign activities. While the Republican state central committee operates under specific bylaws, the state central committees have duties prescribed in the Ohio Revised Code and must follow the rules of the Federal Elections Commission. The combined decisions of the state central committees from all states build the national agenda for each political party.
